Sheffield Community Safety Partnership Funding 2021-22 (closing date to apply 14th May 2021)

The Sheffield Community Safety Partnership (CSP) discretionary fund is available to non-profit organisations in Sheffield who are working to address the local priorities identified by the CSP and the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

Housing and Neighbourhoods Community Fund is now Open for applications (closing date 27th June 2021)

The next round of our Community Fund scheme is now open!

The fund supports stronger, successful communities by making grants available to local voluntary, community and self-help groups wanting to make a difference in their local neighbourhood.  Grants are available for organisations that work with council tenants, or in and around council housing estates in Sheffield and for exciting, innovative projects which would benefit council tenants.  If you are involved in an organisation which could benefit from a Community Fund grant please get in touch with us at CommunityFund@sheffield.gov.uk for further information and to request an application form. The deadline for applications for the next round is Sunday 27^th June 2021

Do you know someone who is socially isolated or lonely?

b:friend is an award winning charity pairing volunteer befrienders with socially isolated older neighbours in the community to pop in, once a week, for a cuppa and a chat. Through one to one befriending and community social groups we aim to reduce loneliness among our older neighbours by reconnecting them with people and places in the community. We aim to have an impact on secondary outcomes of isolation including onset of dementia, depression and hospital readmission.

b:friend has been pairing older neighbours with befrienders since 2017 throughout South Yorkshire. There is no charge to the older neighbour and the aim is to facilitate mutually beneficial friendships that can offer companionship long into the future. The charity will look to pair befrienders with individuals aged 65+ that consent to visits and do not have specialist support needs, including a diagnosis of dementia or acute mental health needs.

Sheffield City Council’s Restart Business Grant Scheme

Sheffield City Council has started to make one-off payments from the latest government grant scheme, ‘Restart Grants’, to eligible rate paying and non-rate paying businesses in the city. Additional payments are also being made as part of the locally developed Supply Chain Grant Scheme.

The Council are collating views on the permanent removal of these services.

BT have already put notices in the kiosks.

Summer hours for Sheffield’s Household Waste Recycling Centres

Our five Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC), have been extended, with all sites now open from 9.30am to 5.30pm every day until Thursday 30 September.

Sites accept a wide range of items household waste for recycling, including textiles, glass bottles and jars, wood, scrap metal, batteries, garden waste, electrical appliances and even engine and cooking oil.
